He also does not want to support Russian volunteers fighting on the side of Ukraine. Pivovarov said that he remains a “Russian politician”.
Russian oppositionist Andrei Pivovarov, who was supposed to be released in September 2024, but was suddenly released as a result of a large exchange between the West and Russia, considers support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine unacceptable for him.
He stated this in an interview with Novaya Gazeta.
“As for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is a question that is generally wrong to ask Russian politicians, because it is clear that a person who would like to answer it differently than me will immediately receive a criminal case in Russia… As for support for the military forces, unfortunately, this is unacceptable for me, because I still remain a Russian politician,” said Pivovarov.
He believes that many Russians are driven to the front to fight against Ukraine by fear and poverty. But Pivovarov said that does not wish the Russian occupiers to die. He also does not want to support Russian volunteers fighting on the side of Ukraine.
“And maybe these people are not supporters of democratic ideals, but wishing them death, helping them do this is unacceptable for me. But I am not ready to support those people who are fighting against Russia with arms in their hands,” – said the “good Russian” Pivovarov.
Also, a “good Russian” considers it unacceptable when Russians abandon the tricolor, which has become a symbol of Russian aggression,
“The tricolor is our flag and we cannot give it away. We cannot give it up,” says Putin’s oppositionist.
Recall that on August 1, a large-scale exchange of prisoners between Russia and the West took place in Turkey.
At least 10 Russian political prisoners were released, as well as two Americans accused of espionage and a German citizen sentenced to death in Belarus. There is not a single Ukrainian among them.
After his release, Russian oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza said that Western sanctions on the Russian Federation were allegedly unfair, since they were not directed against Putin, but against the entire country and ordinary Russians. According to Kara-Murza, who calls himself an oppositionist, sanctions against Russian officials should be personal. He did not comment on the fact that such sanctions will not slow down the Russian military machine and will not prevent the invaders from killing Ukrainians.
He was supported by Andrey Pivovarov.
