Tom Daley with knitting
High diving star Tom Daley picked up his gold medal at the Olympics. After that, the Brit creates strange scenes.
Daley is considered the superstar among high divers. The Olympic gold medal has so far been denied him. Up to the games in Tokyo, where he was finally at the top in the dubbing competition. Now he can really enjoy the other competitions. So also the final from the 3-meter board, where he caused a curious scene in the stands.
Because that's when Daley unpacked the knitting. And he proudly presents what he has worked so hard on, namely a bag for his gold medal. The Olympic rings can be seen on one side and the British flag on the other.
“Now I can carry my medal around with me without it getting scratched,” says Daley happily. The handicrafts are his gold wild card in Japan. “One thing that kept me sane during the games is my love for knitting and crocheting and everything that can be sewn.”
He also makes sweaters and accessories himself with devotion and posts photos of his works for his 2.5 million followers on Instagram. He has also written a guidebook called “Tom's Daily Life”. Unsurprisingly, it's about how to live healthier – with knitting.
