The contribution to the costs of supporting and integrating refugees from Ukraine will be cancelled.
Berlin informed the state authorities on September 25 on allocating a maximum of 1.7 billion euros to support refugee expenses in 2024, up from 3.75 billion euros in 2023. This means that assistance to refugees in Germany will be cut in half.
This was reported by two sources in the German government, writes Reuters.
The federal government does not promise that after 2023 assistance will correspond to 2023 funding , the source said.
A Treasury spokesman said a meeting of the federal and state governments on September 25 on these issues had produced no results ahead of a planned consultation with the chancellor in November.
“In essence , the states are responsible for the accommodation and care of refugees,” the speaker added.
The government will also cancel its contribution to the costs of care and integration of Ukrainian refugees, the sources added.
We would like to remind you that Ukrainian refugees are increasingly moving from Poland to Germany. According to experts, people find better jobs and salaries.
