Berlin has gotten rid of its infrastructure dependence on Russian gas and calls on other countries to do the same.

German authorities support the proposal to introduce an embargo on import into the European Union of Russian liquefied natural gas 60~/strong> (LNG).

The embargo on Russian gas is proposed to be introduced in 14 th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, informs DW.

“Yes, I support this, Germany no longer needs LNG from Russia, we no longer have contracts with Russia for its supply,” said German Economics Minister Robert Habeck.

The minister said that Berlin had even gotten rid of its infrastructure dependence on Russian pipeline gas and called on other countries to follow this example.

“What Germany managed to do with gas should be possible for other countries in other energy sectors,” said Habeck.

Russia ranks second in terms of LNG supplies to the European Union after the United States. Russia's share in the European market is 16%.

Recall that it was previously reported that The European Union does not need the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine.
