Germany has recorded an increase in cybercrime from foreign attackers, who are mainly backed by Russian military intelligence.

Number of cybercrimes committed by foreign entities in Germany, increased by 20% in 2023 compared to the previous year.

This was stated by German Interior Minister Nancy Feser, writes Reuters.

According to Feser, the level of cybersecurity threats remains high, and the number of crimes committed by foreign attackers has been steadily increasing since 2020, when German authorities began keeping relevant statistics. In 2022, the growth was 8%.

The head of the German Interior Ministry claims that Russian military intelligence is responsible for the cyber attacks.

“We are not intimidated by the Russian regime. We will continue to do everything to protect our democracy from Russian cyber actions, and we will continue to support Ukraine,” Feather emphasized.

Recall that earlier the Ministry of Defense reported that since the beginning of a full-scale war against the Russian Federation, SBU specialists have neutralized almost 10 thousand cyber attacks.
