Germany refused to reduce the staff of the embassy in Ukraine. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, reports TASS.
The decision was made due to the upcoming joint visit to Donbass with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian. “My French colleague Le Drian and I will visit Ukraine again in a week, including the Line of Contact, and we will support the OSCE efforts,” Berbok said.
The head of the German Foreign Ministry noted that the Minsk agreements have decisive agreements in the settlement of the conflict. “We have made a conscious decision not to reduce the staff of our embassy [in Kiev]. We will support Ukraine with our presence and investments,” the diplomat concluded.
Earlier, the United Kingdom, Australia and Germany announced their intention to evacuate employees of diplomatic missions in Ukraine due to the growing military tension on the border with Russia. The decision came amid a U.S. call to begin evacuating the families of American diplomats. The State Department has been developing measures in case the security situation of citizens worsens due to the alleged invasion and recommended that Americans not travel to Russia and Ukraine.
