The Russian project has not yet received certification.
Decision on certification of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, which was built to transport Russian gas to the EU bypassing Ukraine, not expected in the first half of 2022.
This was announced by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur, BNetzA), Bloomberg and Reuters write.
< p> According to the head of the German Federal Network Agency Jochen Hohmann, the regulator has not yet received the necessary documents from the operator.
“This is not in our hands,” he said, adding, “In the first half of the year ( 2022) there will be no solutions. “
The certification process will resume when the requirements are met. The point is that the operator, in accordance with the legal requirements, must create a separate company in Germany, which will take over the management of the German section of Nord Stream 2.
After BNetzA certification, the documents must go to the European Commission , which will take two months to make a decision. However, if necessary, the process can be extended for another two months.
By the way, at first the certification of the Nord Stream 2 operator was supposed to be completed by January 8, 2022, but the process was frozen in mid-November.
As previously reported, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Berbock, said that she sees no reason to put Nord Stream 2 into operation, since it does not meet the norms of European energy legislation. The politician also stressed that in the event of a Russian attack on Ukraine, the gas pipeline may be turned off.
Earlier, Germany ruled out the start of operation of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline before completion of its certification.
