Germany has problems with vaccination against COVID-19

by alex

The authorities of the federal state of Bavaria in Germany announced the postponement of the start of vaccination against COVID-19 in several areas. RIA Novosti reports.

Problems arose due to improper drug transportation. The Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine can be stored for up to 15 days at minus 70 degrees Celsius and has a maximum shelf life of five days in the refrigerator. Usually dry ice is used to maintain the required temperature, but in nine districts of Bavaria it was not possible to establish with certainty that this condition was met: during transportation, a temperature of minus one degree was recorded.

On December 27, vaccination against coronavirus began in Europe, residents of Germany, France, Spain, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain and Italy will receive vaccinations. At the first stage, each of the countries of the European Union (EU) will be able to vaccinate less than five thousand people from priority populations. Mass vaccination will not begin until spring.

There are currently several COVID-19 vaccines in the world. So, in Russia two vaccines are registered: “Sputnik V” and “EpiVacCorona”. On December 5, Moscow started vaccination against coronavirus with Sputnik V. The United States and the United Kingdom have also begun inoculating the population with Pfizer / BioNTech.
