Harsh sanctions against Russia's energy sector could hurt Germany more. This was stated by the representative of the government of Germany, Steffen Hebestreit, reports TASS.

According to him, energy from Russia cannot be replaced quickly and in full. The representative of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic also said that now Germany's energy security is ensured and there are no disruptions in supplies.

Earlier, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said that business with Russia had practically ceased, and also announced a “complete blockade” of Russian banks. However, it is argued that individual transactions through Russian banks are still possible, including when paying for gas, as well as when transferring between companies in Germany.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. The head of state also turned to external forces that might try to create a threat to Russia – according to him, the answer will be immediate.
