Germany declared the strictest quarantine in history

Germany from December 16 introduces the strictest quarantine in the history of the country due to the coronavirus pandemic of a new type SARS-CoV-2. This was announced by President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in a television speech, Deutsche Welle reports.

He described the situation in the country as dire and said that the spread of the infection was threatening to get out of control. He stressed that the previous measures were not enough to defeat the virus. Steinmeier urged Germans not to see their relatives in person during the Christmas celebrations. He believes that it is possible to give gifts and spend time together later, but now it is necessary to cope with the epidemic.

The President also expressed hope for vaccination. He predicted that mass vaccinations would begin shortly after 2021.

Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that quarantine in Germany would be extended in early December. She stressed that it is not worth relaxing the restrictive measures due to the celebration of Christmas if the situation with the epidemic does not begin to change.
