The visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin demonstrated the need to continue dialogue with Russia to resolve the situation around Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the parliamentary faction of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Rolf Mützenich, reports TASS.

According to the deputy, Scholz achieved the emergence of hope for a resolution of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev. “His clear position and at the same time openness to negotiations did not go unnoticed by the Russian president. This shows that it is worth persistently continuing the dialogue, ”concluded Mützenich.

The head of the SPD faction stressed that during the negotiations, the parties can learn to perceive each other's opinion in a meaningful way. “Olaf Scholz has made the most of this difficult, extremely stressful situation,” he added.

Negotiations between Putin and Scholz in Moscow took place on February 15. The meeting lasted about three hours, during which the leaders of the two countries discussed economic and energy issues, as well as the situation in Ukraine and the West's response to Russia's proposals for security guarantees.
