Germany will continue to financially support Ukraine, but will not supply weapons to Kiev. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reports RIA Novosti.
“Germany contributes to the security of Ukraine, large-scale financial support for the stabilization of the country, we, according to current estimates, are the largest financial donor to Ukraine,” the chancellor said. He noted that during his visit to Kiev he presented the following financial tranches for support.
“Otherwise, there is no reason to change the principles we have adopted in the policy of arms exports,” Scholz added. He stressed that the situation on the border between Russia and Ukraine is very serious, but it needs to be resolved through diplomatic methods.
Earlier it was reported that Scholz and US President Joe Biden had a telephone conversation, during which they agreed that there was no significant reduction in the number of Russian troops near Ukraine. Politicians have come to the conclusion that the risk of further Russian military aggression against Ukraine remains.
