Germany has announced a new record for the incidence of coronavirus

About 16.2 million Germans over 12 years old remain unvaccinated from the coronavirus.

In Germany on Thursday , November 4, recorded 33,949 new cases of COVID-19 . This is the highest daily increase in infections in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

This is reported by The Associated Press, citing data from the Robert Koch Institute.

In addition, another 165 died from complications of the new infection patients compared with 126 weeks earlier. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Germany has increased to 96 192.

It is noted that the previous record for the incidence of Germany was set on December 18, 2020, when it registered 33,777 coronavirus infections per day.

The new maximum was recorded against the background of the intention of the Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn to meet with colleagues from 16 federal states to discuss measures to contain COVID-19 in the winter.

The German government has repeatedly appealed to its citizens who have not yet been vaccinated, with a request to be vaccinated, although Spahn admitted this week that many dissenting voices cannot be convinced.

Official figures show that about two-thirds of Germany's 83 million people have completed the first round of vaccinations. However, about 16.2 million Germans aged 12 and over remain unvaccinated, including 3.2 million people over 60.

Although in August Germany approved revaccination for people over 60, and also for residents and staff of nursing homes, while just over two million people received the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
