Germans spoke about Putin

Residents of Germany have a positive attitude towards Russian President Vladimir Putin. This is evidenced by the data of a survey conducted by the Center for Eastern European and International Studies ZOiS, writes the German edition Tagesschau.

According to published research results, nearly 34 percent of respondents in the eastern part of the country describe Putin as an effective leader. Many interviewed citizens noted that the Russian president is assertive at home and abroad. In addition, the Germans value Putin for upholding traditional values and being close to the people.

The authors of the publication suggest that such an attitude towards the Russian leader is due to the fact that people associate Russia with the USSR, which contributed to the peaceful unification of the FRG and the GDR 30 years ago.

In mid-September it became known that Vladimir Putin surpassed his American counterpart Donald Trump in the rating of trust among residents of 13 developed countries. The survey was conducted among citizens of Japan, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Sweden, France, Denmark, Germany and Belgium. Residents were asked to express their confidence in the leaders of the United States, Germany, France, Great Britain, Russia and China in matters of international politics.
