Stefan Kuntz is the new Turkish national coach and signed a contract until 2024.
The previous German U21 success coach Stefan Kuntz has signed a contract as the new Turkish national soccer coach until 2024. The 58-year-old was presented on Monday in Istanbul as the successor to Senol Günes and is expected to lead Turkey to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. “For me it's a little – or not a little – like coming home,” said Kuntz in Istanbul on Monday. “I want to become the most German Turk or the most Turkish German.”
The German Football Association (DFB) had previously given the most successful U21 national coach in the association's history approval for the change. Kuntz led the most important German youth team in three finals, won the title in 2017 and 2021. The former striker played for Besiktas Istanbul in 1995/1996, other stations were Kaiserslautern, VfL Bochum, Arminia Bielefeld and Bayer Uerdingen.
