German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the settlement of acute conflicts in Syria, Libya, Belarus and Nagorno-Karabakh will be impossible if the dialogue with Russia is terminated. His words are reported by Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland.
Maas stressed that the dialogue should not stop because of high hopes for the international community in the matter of resolving these conflicts. At the beginning of the “ice age”, no one can be interested between Germany and Russia, but relations between the parties remain difficult, he added.
Earlier, Maas said he was confident in the viability of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. It will be built anyway, the German Foreign Minister is convinced.
After the incident with Alexei Navalny, several German politicians called for the introduction of sanctions against everyone involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. This idea was supported in the United States, noting that the project allegedly increases Germany's dependence on Russia.
