The German Ministry of Defense explained the difference by saying that the missing funds are so-called co-financing and return from the European Peace Fund.

Germany's 2025 defense budget unexpectedly lacks almost a billion euros earmarked for Ukraine.
Bild writes about this.
As the publication notes, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius recently assured that aid to Ukraine next year would amount to 9.2 billion euros, but the draft budget of June 24 indicates a sum 900 million euros less, that is, 8.3 billion euros.
The Ministry of Defense divided the amount into two parts: 7.3 billion euros have already been approved, and 1.9 billion euros are planned additionally. But now officials claim that everything is included in the already prescribed 8.3 billion euros.
The German Ministry of Defense explained the difference by saying that the missing funds are so-called co-financing and return from the European Peace Fund.
“That is, there will supposedly be money, but it is not in the budget yet,” the publication notes.
“In the end, it will still amount to about 9 billion euros,” the ministry assured.
At the same time, such statements from the Ministry of Defense caused surprise in the Bundestag.
“Ukraine needs not promises, but real support,” he summed up.
