German Chancellor's advisor to discuss Ukraine with the Kremlin curator of Donbass: when will the meeting take place

Adviser to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on foreign policy Ens Pletner and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, chief negotiator and curator of the settlement of the situation in Donbass, Dmitry Kozak in January, will hold a meeting at which will discuss the situation around Ukraine.

According to the newspaper, high-ranking representatives of Germany and Russia intend to meet in early January. They agreed on this during a telephone conversation on Thursday, December 23.

During the conversation, Pletner once again called on to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine and noted the need to discuss the further situation with Ukraine and France in the so-called “Normandy format”. “The goal of the German side remains to achieve a quick reactivation of the Normandy format,” the government said.

As a reminder, on Tuesday German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Russian President Vladimir Putin held their first telephone conversation. The key topics were Ukraine and the Kremlin's “safeguards” ultimatum. During the conversation, Scholz called on the Russian Federation to immediately de-escalate in Ukraine.

By the way, prior to this conversation, Putin spoke with the French president.

Previously The Russian Foreign Ministry has unveiled , as they call it, a draft treaty between Moscow and Washington on “security guarantees”, which contains several points related directly to Ukraine and its integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Moscow demands from the US legal guarantees that NATO will give up its intention to admit Ukraine .
