The German businessman and his alleged accomplice were accused of supplying equipment to a company associated with the Russian military, bypassing European Union (EU) sanctions. Writes about this Associated Press with reference to the German prosecutor's office.
The main suspect, a certain Alexander S., was charged on seven counts, including those related to violations of export laws and acts in the interests of foreign intelligence. He is believed to be involved in supplying machine tools to a state defense company that makes missile systems for the Russian army, as well as providing false information about how some of the tools work.
The second suspect, Alexander O., was allegedly an accomplice: he also violated export laws. The man consulted Alexander S. and attended meetings where they discussed the logistics of goods. It is alleged that he received about 270 thousand euros in commission for his help.
It is noted that all the supplied equipment belonged to dual-use goods: it could be used both for civilian and military purposes. According to the current EU sanctions, they cannot be supplied to Russia.
According to the prosecutor's office, in the period from January 2016 to January 2018, Alexander S. made seven deliveries totaling about eight million euros. The charge was filed in a Hamburg court on October 8.
