A German animal shelter has launched a dating site. But not for people, but for their smaller brothers.
– This initiative makes many people smile, but it has a goal – to fight the loneliness of animals, which every year more and more often thrown out into the street, – said the initiators of the website, employees of a veterinary clinic located in Munich.
The site, whose interface is very similar to the well-known Tinder, is called The Purrfect Match. Its official opening was scheduled for August 8, 2021, International Cat Day, Le Point reports.
It contains profiles of cats and dogs at the shelter. Four-legged pets are photographed from several angles, each of them is given a characteristic. For example, Saskia is a “glamorous shorthair cat”, Harkos the dog is a “real protector.”
It is not planned to introduce the animals to each other, they must find the other half through the site in the person of the owner, who will take them to his home.
Priority will be given not to the prettiest, but to those who have been in the shelter the longest. It will even be possible to strike up a conversation with the four-legged one you like, the chatbot will conduct it for him.
Every summer in Germany, according to data published by the Bavarian Press Academy, more than 70 thousand cats and dogs are on the street.
The Germans made it a habit to take dogs and cats only for the summer period, during the holidays of their children, so that they would not be bored with spending time at home. And when work and school days begin, they try to get rid of the pets by giving them to a shelter or simply throwing them out into the street.
The situation is particularly difficult this year, with pet shelters overcrowded not only in Germany but throughout Western Europe.
