Gepard and generators: Germany handed over a new aid package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

< p _ngcontent-sc100="" class="news-annotation">Germany has announced a new assistance package for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It will include Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, cars and several dozen generators.

The German government said that the list includes various weapons, including lethal ones. The aid also contains the equipment necessary for Ukraine to resist the Russian invaders.

What is included in the new aid package from Germany

Germany handed over to Ukraine in the next package assistance:

  • 2 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns and 6 thousand anti-aircraft ammunition;
  • 5 vehicles for border guards;
  • 29 electric generators;
  • < li>6 trucks with hook loading system;

  • 6 mobile antenna systems;
  • 10 containers.

The German federal government said that for security reasons they would not provide information on the methods of transporting weapons, as well as on the timing of their delivery.

According to the government, part of the equipment will be transferred from the Bundeswehr, the other part from the industry, which funded by funds from the government's modernization initiative.

German help in brief

  • Germany will give Ukraine Leopard 1 tanks, not only Leopard 2. That is, Berlin agreed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine the transfer of not only the second generation of German Leopard tanks, but also the first.
  • Armin Papperger, General Director of the German weapons company Rheinmetall, explained that it is planned to transfer from 20 to 25 tanks to Ukraine Leopard 1.
  • It is preliminary known that Ukraine will receive the first batch of Leopard 1 tanks in the summer of 2023.
  • Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the “first” Leopard 2 is already in Kyiv. He was brought to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.
