Former President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili illegally crossed the border of the country on September 29, reports “Sputnik – Georgia” with reference to the prosecutor's office.
Earlier, the prosecutor in the case of Mikhail Saakashvili, Levan Vepkhvadze, said that two people were detained for helping Saakashvili in illegal entry into the country.
“Two more people were detained on charges of concealing a crime. The route of entry of the most convicted Mikheil Saakashvili is known to the investigation, ”Vepkhvadze said.
The criminal case was initiated under the article “Illegal transportation of migrants across the State border of Georgia and the creation of appropriate conditions for their illegal stay in Georgia”, which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
The Georgian authorities have been charged with failing to report a grave crime to another person – the owner of the apartment in which Saakashvili was hiding in Tbilisi.
