Georgia lifts restriction on international flights on February 1 after 10 months
The Georgian authorities have decided to lift the restrictions on air traffic with other countries, which were introduced 10 months ago. TASS reports.
This decision, adopted by the country's government on January 22, comes into force on Monday, February 1.
A number of airlines have already announced the restoration of international flights with Georgia, including SkyUp Airlines, FlyDubai, Ukraine International Airlines, as well as Air Arabia and Pegasus Airlines.
A prerequisite for foreign citizens arriving in Georgia is to have a certificate of any vaccination against coronavirus. Exceptions have been introduced for UAE citizens. The United States, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Switzerland and residents of the EU countries, however, are required to provide the results of a PCR test for COVID-19.
In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 103.4 million cases have been registered, over 75 million people have recovered, and more than 2.2 million patients have died. More than 3.8 million people with COVID-19 have been identified in Russia. The Russian Federation was the first country in the world to register a vaccine against COVID-19. The drug was developed by NITsEM named after Gamaleya in cooperation with the Russian Direct Investment Fund. It was named Sputnik V. On October 15, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about the registration of the second vaccine against COVID-19, which was named “EpiVacCorona”. It was developed by the Novosibirsk center “Vector”.
