The body of 55-year-old Vano Nadiradze, who fought on the side of Ukraine, was delivered to Tbilisi. For the first time, no honor guard was sent to meet the volunteer's coffin at the airport.

This was reported by Channel 24 with reference to Ekho Kavkaza.

Georgia did not send an honor guard to meet the volunteer

After the soldier was carried out of the airport, ordinary citizens, former colleagues, relatives and friends gathered. People shouted “Glory to the heroes!”

Unlike other cases of delivery of bodies of soldiers killed in Ukraine, Vano Nadiradze was not met at the airport by an honor guard. The Defense Ministry has not yet commented on this, journalists said.

Nadiradze fought on the Ukrainian side as part of the SBU since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. He regularly reported on the military successes of the Ukrainian army and informed Georgian media and social media users about the progress of the fighting.

According to preliminary information, the defender died of a heart attack. Nadiradze will be buried in a cemetery near the Tbilisi Sea.

The publication recalled that since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, more than 80 Georgian fighters have died on the front line – both volunteers and citizens of Georgia, as well as Ukrainians of Georgian origin.
