The special services claim that the preparation of the assassination attempt was the work of ex-high-ranking officials of the Georgian government and ex-law enforcement officers located in Ukraine.
< p>The Georgian State Security Service reported preparations for the murder of the honorary head of the Georgian Dream party, oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. The department linked the preparation for the assassination attempt to Ukraine.
This is stated in a statement by the Georgian special service on July 24.
The State Security Service of Georgia reported that it is investigating the preparation of a terrorist act and conspiracy to overthrow state power.
“The State Security Service is investigating the facts of preparation of the murder of the honorary head of the party “Georgian Dream” by Bidzina Ivanishvili, organized and financed by former high-ranking Georgian government officials based in Ukraine and former law enforcement officers,” the department said in a statement.
They added that the goal of the criminal actions is “to overthrow the government of Georgia by violent means by destructive forces against the backdrop of creating unrest and weakening the government.”

In a criminal case, active investigative and investigative measures are being carried out, within the framework of which “specific individuals are called to the investigative body for questioning as witnesses.”
A criminal case was initiated under two articles – “Preparation of a terrorist act” and “Conspiracy or rebellion with the aim of forcibly changing the constitutional system of Georgia.”
By the way, the day before, about 300 citizens who served as volunteers in the Georgian National Legion together with the Ukrainian military were put on the wanted list in Georgia. Most of the volunteers are now in Ukraine.
23 July it became known that the Georgian State Security Service began calling Georgian volunteers who fought for Ukraine. According to the lawyer of one of the interrogated fighters, the interrogation concerned the case of preparing a terrorist attack against Ivanishvili.
