Geoglyph of a 4,000-year-old bull found in Siberia

On the territory of Siberia, a bull's geoglyph was discovered, created about four thousand years ago. Scientists have concluded that it is twice as old as the famous lines in the Nazca desert, according to the Siberian Times.

The size of the bull reaches 3 meters in height and almost four in width. The figure is made of carefully arranged pebbles and sandstone.

Scientists explained that the geoglyph is part of a Bronze Age burial found near the village of Hondergei (Tyva). According to the archaeologists of the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences who participated in the expedition, this is the first geoglyph of animal origin in this part of Central Asia.

“The bull motif is very typical of the early Bronze Age cultures of Central Asia. Later, in the Scythian era, the bulls were replaced by deer, ”explained the head of the archaeological expedition Marina Kilunovskaya.

Scientists have previously found images of bulls in Siberia, but these were exclusively rock paintings. The discovery of the geoglyph is important, although it is not completely preserved – the front part was damaged during road works in the 1940s.

The oldest known geoglyph is also located in Russia, about 1700 kiometers from the bull. This is a huge elk, clearly visible only from the sky. Its age is about six thousand years. The geoglyph was found thanks to satellite video.

Earlier it was reported that the world's largest geoglyph was spotted in India. He is about 150 years old.
