Gastroenterologist named a safe dose of salt per day
Salt must be consumed in limited quantities – no more than 5 grams per day, reports Vechernyaya Moskva with reference to Natalia Stukova, a gastroenterologist and nutritionist at the Russian Railways Medicine Central Clinical Hospital.
“The World Health Organization recommends a sodium intake of no more than 2 grams per day for adults, which equates to 5 grams of table salt,” she said.
It should be borne in mind that this amount includes salt, which is contained in semi-finished products, canned food and other products, added Stukova.
Earlier, the deputy head of Roskachestvo Elena Sarattseva gave recommendations on the choice of high-quality and healthy salt. According to her, only iodized salt should be consumed. Also, when choosing, you should pay attention to the grinding class – iodine is more stable in finely ground salt. The specialist noted that its content should be at least 40 + 15mkg / g.
