gastronomy
Since the middle of the week there have been concrete hopes that the catering trade will soon be able to reopen. According to branch spokesman Dobcak, it was high time.
In the middle of the week we were happy to hear that the catering industry is likely to reopen under strict conditions, not only for restaurateurs, but also for all those who are already looking forward to a sociable get-together. Even if a fixed date for the restart has not yet been announced, a similar regulation is emerging, as it is already common practice at hairdressers or other body-friendly service providers. Specifically, the following elements must be met in order to enable gastronomic establishments to open up.
➤ FFP2 masks
➤ Keep your distance
➤ Hygiene measures
➤ Entry tests
➤ curfew at 11 p.m.
Peter Dobcak, the division chairman of the gastronomy of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, now explained how he feels about the possible opening of gastronomy. In an appeal to the federal government, he pleaded for an early opening. The innkeepers not only had to struggle with economic problems, but mentally, too, many in the industry were not in good shape. The financial support from the federal government is good, as Dobcak emphasized in an interview with the news channel Puls24.
However, this statement was accompanied by a request to the banks that bridging loans due soon be deferred again. The hosts would need some time after the opening to create a financial cushion to be able to meet the obligations. How many companies will not survive the Corona crisis depends on the political framework, Dobcak explained. If the restaurateurs are not accommodated, the chairman expects a major “gastronomic death”. He fears that 20 percent of all inns would have to close. “The understanding is about to end because the pressure is getting bigger and is being unlocked all around,” he said when asked whether the current measures are still supported.
Similar to Stefan Ratzenberger, spokesman for night gastronomy, Dobcak emphasizes the concepts that exist for a smooth opening. He assumes that the summit announced by Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober (Greens) on how to proceed on March 1 will lead to the gastro reopening, for example subject to entry tests. For Dobcak one thing is clear: it is better to open with access tests than not at all.
