Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal assessed gas reserves in Ukraine for the heating season. He said on the air of the “Freedom of speech” program that there are enough reserves in the republic, he was quoted by RIA Novosti.
“Ukraine was preparing for the heating season and was ready, it started absolutely on time, without disruptions, without sabotage and continues … There are nuances, as always, during any heating season, there are repairs, there are weather conditions … In general, we have absolutely enough stocks gas … “- he said.
Shmygal also added that in terms of coal reserves, one should look at “the context of the global economic and energy crisis.” According to him, the process of coal accumulation is already underway. However, he added that the government does not exclude risks and force majeure during the heating season.
“Regarding gas, there is absolutely enough of it in storage facilities for both the population and the industry to pass this heating season. Of course, we are facing challenges – to ensure the modernization of the country from the point of view of energy saving, from the point of view of the passage of the next heating season. We do not exclude risks and force majeure that may occur every heating season, ”he explained.
The Prime Minister noted that the risks may arise with certain actions on the part of Russia.
In October, Shmygal argued that Ukraine was fully prepared for the heating season. But in November, Centrenergo signed a contract for the supply of 1.5 million tons of coal from Kazakhstan, Poland, the USA and Australia. The reason for this decision was called the threat of rolling blackouts.
