'Gas deal should generate enough savings to survive 'medium' winter – EU

The EU has formally approved a plan to reduce natural gas consumption by 15%.

The gas agreement negotiated by the countries of the European Union to reduce consumption should provide enough savings to last a mid-winter if Russia cuts supplies completely in July.

This was stated by European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson on Tuesday, July 26, during an emergency meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels, Reuters writes.

“Our initial calculations show that even if all exceptions were used to their full extent, we would achieve a reduction in demand that would help us safely survive a normal winter,” said

Recall, on July 26, the EU countries agreed on a voluntary reduction in demand for natural gas by 15% this winter. How exactly this reduction will occur, the countries will choose independently. p>Advertising
