After the last failure in awarding the title fights to Saalbach-Hinterglemm in 2025, the Olympic site is daring a new attempt.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen will apply for the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2027. The local council in the Upper Bavarian winter sports resort decided on Thursday evening. After Garmisch last failed to award the 2025 title fights to Saalbach-Hinterglemm, the Olympic site is now daring a new attempt. It would be the third World Cup after 1967 and 2011. The World Federation FIS will choose the host in May 2022.

The official documents must be submitted to the FIS by May 1st. So far, Crans-Montana is known as the only competitor – the Swiss, like Garmisch, missed out on the award of the title fights in four years.

Garmisch wants to score points with its application with a sustainable World Cup and does not, for example, create new slopes. Conservationists had spoken out against the plan to host a World Cup.
