The US team kicker was out on the high seas with the deep-sea fishermen of the “BlacktipH-Crew” around Josh Jorgensen. Soon a giant grouper was hanging on the line. But what can then be seen in an Instagram video is now hotly debated.
Because Pulisic sits down on the railing and begins to fork over the fish. In the process, the 22-year-old loses his balance and falls on the still living fish, which is helplessly hanging on the fishing rod. The crew pulls the soccer star back on board, everyone laughs at the mishap of the ex-Dortmund professional.
Pulisic writes about the video: “Life passed me by. What a day on the water.” His teammates Thiago Silva, Tammy Abraham and Marcos Alonso respond with laughing emojis. Manchester United newcomer Jadon Sancho also replied with emojis and the words: “Bro, you play too much.”
The clip is not so well received by other users. “This fish is critically endangered and what you are doing is abuse. You have to grow up,” one writes. Another reacts quite violently: “You'd like to put a fishhook in Pulisic's mouth and throw it overboard.”
The giant grouper can live up to 30 years. It becomes 2.50 meters long and weighs up to 450 kilos. Usually, after the catch, the fish is photographed for a quick proof photo and released back into the wild. Otherwise it is important to kill the animals immediately and properly.
