“We reiterate our call to third parties to immediately stop providing material assistance to Russia's illegal and unjustified war against Ukraine, or they will suffer serious consequences,” the statement said.
In addition, the G7 countries expressed concern about “information about Iran’s intention to transfer ballistic missiles and related technologies to Russia.”
“We urge Iran not to do this, as it would exacerbate regional destabilization and amount to a significant material buildup of Iranian support for Russia's war in Ukraine,” the signatories noted.
The G7 states also noted that if Iran provides Russia with ballistic missiles, “we are ready to respond quickly and in a coordinated manner, including new and significant measures against Iran.”
Agency Reuters reported that such sanctions could include a ban on Iran Air flying to Europe.
