The leaders of the G20 countries have pledged to equitably distribute coronavirus vaccines and medicines around the world. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the draft communiqué of the online summit.

“We will spare no effort to ensure equal access for all people. We recognize mass vaccination as a global public good, ”the document says.

G20 leaders also expressed concern that the pandemic could further exacerbate divisions between rich and poor. “We need at all costs to avoid a scenario in which only the rich can defend themselves,” said French President Emmanuel Macron.

On November 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) online summit promised to provide domestic vaccines to “countries in need”. The Russian leader noted that he supports the draft of a key decision of the summit aimed at making effective and safe vaccines available to everyone. Putin also said that drugs for immunization should be in the public domain.

The head of state said that the Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona vaccines are already ready in Russia, and added that the third domestic development is already on the way.

According to the latest data, the number of cases of coronavirus infection has exceeded 58 million. Since the start of the pandemic, 1.37 million people have died from COVID-19.
