A couple of Americans from Brooklyn on Instagram maintain an account @StoopingNYC, in which they upload photos of things standing on the streets of New York, awaiting removal by the garbage collectors.
Tables, chairs, vintage floor lamps and even TVs – all this awaits new owners, and many subscribers have already been allowed to decorate their homes inexpensively, and if desired, you can change the decor in the apartment almost completely.
New Yorkers created an unusual account two years ago. The idea came up spontaneously while walking around the city. Bumping into the items on display, the couple began to photograph them and upload them to the social network, indicating the address.
During the quarantine, walks stopped and the photos were not updated, and when the restrictions became softer, enthusiasts were surprised to see that things on the streets increased noticeably – they were left by people leaving the greater New York due to the coronavirus.
Now the account has not only personal photos of the couple – they receive messages about abandoned things from all over the metropolis:
– We get hundreds a day. People say, “Why haven't you posted my photo yet?” They probably think there is a whole company behind it. But in reality, these are only two people, besides, working full time. We try to answer every person who wrote to us.
To date, the account has hundreds of photos from various parts of New York and other cities and more than 120 thousand subscribers.
