We are talking about stable support from the United States for 10 years.
The agreement is the strongest of all that have been concluded between Ukraine and the USA during our independence. It is fundamentally different from the Budapest Memorandum, since it contains clear implementation steps and obligations of the parties.
This was stated by the head of the OPU Andrey Ermak.
What is known about the agreement
As Ermak detailed, the agreement contains a legally binding part – this gives the document special significance. It notes that America is committed to providing a stable level of support to Ukraine annually for 10 years. We are talking about key aspects of support, in particular defense support.
“Within two months from the moment of its signing, the document will be registered with the UN, as provided for in the Charter of this organization. Thus, this agreement is officially introduced into international circulation,” – emphasized in the OPU.
In particular, the agreement confirms the validity of all preliminary agreements in the field of security, and also emphasizes: the future of Ukraine is in NATO.
“The important point is that the parties consider this document as a bridge for our entry into the Alliance, this was discussed during the preparation of the document”, — noted Ermak.
In addition, he continued, the agreement contains all the key elements of the Peace Formula:
In this context, the United States fully supports our vision: a just world that takes into account the interests of Ukraine. This is a necessary condition for ensuring the security of our state.
“The document is not limited to military and military cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. An important part of it is cooperation in economic recovery and investment issues. In particular, the United States will help Ukraine in the field energy security, its decentralization and further integration with the European one. The agreement also provides for further assistance from the United States in reforms and increasing the transparency of the work of our state machine,” – the official stated.
Thanks to these and other agreements, Ukraine is creating a new security architecture for the whole of Europe and the Euro-Atlantic community. Our state will no longer be left alone with the aggressor Russia.
Recall that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and US President Joe Biden signed a security agreement in Italy at the G7 summit.
