Full-length: a bronze monument to Greta Thunberg was erected in Britain (PHOTOS)
In the UK, near the University of Winchester, a monument to the Swedish schoolgirl and eco-activist Greta Thunberg was unveiled, according to BBC News.
It is noted that this is the world's first human-size monument to a girl. The bronze statue was named “Make the World a Better World.” At the same time, 24 thousand pounds sterling was spent on the monument. This caused discontent among the students.
According to the chairman of the university student association Megan Ball, Greta Thunberg is a fantastic role model for everyone, however, the students did not support the installation of a monument to her. Instead of spending money on this sculptural composition, money could be directed to support students who need it more than ever due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ball said.
The administration of the university noted to this that the money was not taken away from the support of students or the payment of teachers.
Earlier, Swedish scientists discovered four new species of tardigrades. They are microscopic invertebrates known for their resistance to extreme conditions. One of the species was named Xerobiotus gretae in honor of the eco-activist Greta Thunberg.
