Around ten cents more per liter: refueling in 2021 has become more expensive.
The fuel prices in Austria have increased significantly in the past few weeks. Diesel, gasoline and the like have become more expensive by around ten cents in 2021.
As an analysis by the ÖAMTC automobile club shows, fuel prices at domestic filling stations rose by around ten cents per liter. In the first days of March, the trend of price increases that had been observed for months continued. How things will continue remains to be seen – if crude oil prices rise, the price at the pumps will also go up again. For a liter of diesel you currently pay around 1.145 euros, for the liter of super 1.198 euros.
Monthly prices rose for the third time in a row in February. For a liter of super you paid an average of 1.168 euros, for a liter of diesel 1.117 euros. Compared to January this was 4.2 cents per liter of super and 4.4 cents per liter of diesel more than in January.
“If you think of your car when you do spring cleaning, you can save money. You should clear out the car again and again, because unnecessary weight increases fuel consumption,” advises the club. The tire pressure should also be checked regularly, because too little air means not only more wear, but also higher consumption.
“In general, the car has to be in a technically perfect condition – it is not only safer to drive, but also cheaper, because a dirty air filter, old spark plugs or faulty electrics can significantly increase consumption,” said the ÖAMTC experts.
