French court ordered pond owners to get rid of loud croaking frogs
In France, he decided to get rid of frogs from the pond, due to the fact that they make too much noise during the mating season, which causes inconvenience to residents, the newspaper Le Figaro writes .
According to a court order, French couple Michel and Anna Peshera must drain a 300 square meter pond in 90 days. The pond is located next to their home in Grignolle (Aquitaine region, southwestern France).
Michel said he re-excavated the historic pond that was filled up 12 years ago. His neighbor Jean-Louis Malfion did not complain about frogs at that time and even wanted to create a similar pond on his territory. But in 2012, Malfion unexpectedly sued a neighbor, claiming that the noise made by frogs in the spring reached 63 decibels.
In 2014, the case was dismissed by a local court, but later upheld by a judge in Bordeaux. Since then, it has been transferred between legal jurisdictions.
The Pesher family fears that they will lose the case and will be forced to pay a large fine. Therefore, Michel has already begun draining the pond, which is home to fish, ducks, as well as herons and other wild animals and birds.
We will remind, in the summer in France, the rooster Maurice died, which the court in 2019 allowed to crow from early morning.
