Free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 11 will be possible only with formatting the system drive

by alex

Last month, the American company Microsoft officially announced the new operating system Windows 11, to which it was immediately promised the possibility of free migration from Windows 10 and even from Windows 7.

But, as it turned out, in the latter case, everything is not so simple. While the transition from the “ten” to the new version is carried out through the Windows update center, then the owners of computers running the “seven” will have to go through a “clean” installation with the formatting of the system disk, which means the loss of everything that was there. And that's not all the problems.

In this case, the user must know the license key, which will need to be entered during the installation process. Given the fact that Windows 7 has been around for over ten years, the chances that this key was lost long ago is quite high. But do not despair: there is still one way to get Windows 11 without formatting the C drive. To do this, you must first upgrade your computer to Windows 10 for free, and only then get the eleventh version through the update center.
