The swindlers have come up with a new scheme to steal the personal data of Russians. People are lured away information by promising big earnings on the Internet from investments in well-known companies, including Tesla of the American billionaire Elon Musk.
This was reported by the RIA Novosti agency with reference to the Bi.Zone company. As experts in the field of information security said, scammers create trap sites and hide behind Russian and foreign brands. These may include:
popular Russian banks; oil companies; Elon Musk's firms – Tesla and SpaceX.
Cybercriminals deliberately make phishing sites bright, with an attractive headline and a link to a YouTube video. The video itself tells about the alleged advantages of the project. A form for entering personal data is located under the link. When the victim fills it out, a window appears on the screen promising to call back. But then the user does not receive any feedback.
According to experts, this data is collected so that later scammers can use social engineering techniques when calling people – after all, they will have the names of the victims and other information on their hands.
In the Central Bank, citizens were urged not to inform strangers and dubious resources of bank card details, codes from sms messages, secret words. Also, you cannot send money at the direction of strangers, even if they introduce themselves as employees of a bank, law enforcement agencies or well-known companies.
At the beginning of May, “Secret” wrote about another new method of deceiving citizens. Fraudsters are now trying to steal bank card details, using the European Parliament's recent call to disconnect Russia from the global SWIFT payment information exchange system.
