France vows to ensure Zelensky's security

French Foreign Ministry says it is ready to ensure Zelensky's security if necessary

The French authorities are ready to ensure the safety of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky if the need arises. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, TASS reports on Friday, February 25.

“The question of [Zelensky’s] security inevitably comes up. We are ready to take the necessary measures if necessary,” the minister promised.

Earlier on February 25, French Defense Minister Florence Parly said that no one in Brussels and Washington wants to fight Russia. According to her, under the current conditions, the main goal of Paris at the moment is a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.

Prior to this, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the country would offer Ukraine financial assistance in the amount of 300 million euros and military equipment. He also promised to help Ukrainian refugees.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass. He announced this during an appeal to fellow citizens. Putin has also turned to outside forces that might try to pose a threat to Russia. According to him, Russia's response will be immediate.
