The number of hospitalized coronavirus patients in the country also reached a seven-month high.

In France on Friday, December 24, 94,124 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded. This is the highest daily increase in infections in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

This is evidenced by the data of the website Worldometers, which tracks the statistics of the incidence in the world.

It is noted that the record rate of infection in the state is recorded for the second day in a row. Meanwhile, the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients reached a seven-month high of almost 16.2 thousand cases.

“The seven-day moving average of new cases also hit a new record of 66,417,” writes The Guardian.

In the meantime, the French High Commission for Health (HAS) recommended that adult citizens get an additional vaccine three months after the initial course of vaccination against COVID-19.

As informs AFP, in this way, experts hope to contain the spread a new strain of the Omicron coronavirus.

It is noted that French President Emmanuel Macron, unlike the leaders of several other European countries, still refuses to introduce stricter quarantine restrictions to combat Omicron, hoping that booster vaccinations will help prevent overloading the healthcare system.
