French President Emmanuel Macron introduced a four-week lockdown in the country. This is reported by the France24 channel.
From now on, a curfew is introduced in all 19 regions of the regions from 19:00. It is also prohibited to travel more than 10 kilometers from the place of isolation without a good reason.
Kindergartens and schools are closed for three weeks. In addition, shops where they do not sell basic necessities are shutting down, with an exception left for household, book and music stores.
The reason for the lockdown was a sharp increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 infection. Macron noted that 44 percent of patients in intensive care are people under 65 years of age.
Earlier it was reported that the third wave of coronavirus hit Europe. The daily increase in new cases of COVID-19 in Europe has reached record levels since the beginning of February. The outbreak is blamed on new mutations of the virus and a sluggish campaign to vaccinate the population.
