The first victim was a 59-year-old man. He was riding a quad bike when a tree fell on the road.

The second victim was a 12-year-old boy. He was with his three younger sisters.

They had planned to spend the evening at a picnic, but due to the storm, rain and wind, two trees fell on it, local authorities said.

Another 17 people were injured, mostly minor.

More than 100,000 homes across France were left without electricity, and train service was disrupted. In Paris alone, the bad weather caused about 50 trees to fall.
