The head of France, Emmanuel Macron, is not ready to announce his candidacy in the upcoming presidential elections, as he is busy resolving the global crisis. This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, reports TASS.

The Foreign Minister explained that the refusal to participate in the elections is connected with the desire of the French leader “to negotiate as the President of France, and not as a candidate for this post.” Le Drian noted that “the international situation is still very dangerous.”

Earlier, BFM TV reported that Macron became the leader of public opinion polls and remained the main favorite in the upcoming presidential elections. Less than three months before the first round, almost every second Frenchman named a politician the winner of the race, according to a poll conducted by the TV channel.

Macron said in December 2021 that the current circumstances prevented him from contemplating a second term. The leader of the republic added that if he had already announced his participation in the upcoming elections, “it would be difficult to make the necessary decisions, in particular to combat a new wave of the coronavirus pandemic.”
