France supports Ukraine, but not by destroying its own agriculture, the minister said.
Preferential conditions for the export of poultry and grain from Ukraine to the EU have destabilized France's domestic market, so the government will insist on the need to find a balance between supporting Ukraine and protecting its own producers.
This was stated by the French Minister of Agriculture Anne Genevar.
“I support any position that balances the need to support a country under attack with the need to protect our own production,” she said.
Annie Genevard stressed that Ukrainian preferential exports of poultry and grain destabilized French markets.
“You know that when customs duties were lifted, it immediately and deeply destabilized a number of industries in our country. I mean poultry farming. I also see in the grain sector that grain is not included in the agreements, and if you look at the dynamics of imports, in particular from Ukraine, it also destabilizes our own production,” the minister specified.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian goods could become 10% more expensive due to the loss of the “visa-free trade” from the EU. Read more about this in the news.
