French President Emmanuel Macron called for increased measures against Russia. It is reported by AFP with reference to the Elysee Palace, reports RIA Novosti.
Thus, Macron supported “strengthening economic and financial sanctions in coordination with the Europeans and Americans.” In addition, new national restrictions may relate to the “freezing of financial assets of Russian persons”.
In addition, the French leader advocated the adoption of new measures together with European partners “regarding the SWIFT system.”
Earlier, the disconnection of Russia from the SWIFT system was supported by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. At the same time, Bloomberg reported that Russia will avoid this, as Italy and Germany oppose the introduction of such a measure due to concerns in the field of energy security.
