France asked the Russian authorities to condemn the threats and take protection of its consulate

Emmanuel Macron

The French Embassy in Moscow has asked the Russian authorities to condemn threats against its citizens after several pickets of Muslims near it. RIA Novosti reports.

“We are deeply concerned about these threats, which are absolutely unacceptable, and we reported this to the Russian authorities, urging them to issue an official condemnation,” the French diplomats said in a statement. They noted that they appealed to the Russian authorities with a request to strengthen protective measures for all French consulates in the country.

On the eve of the security forces in Moscow confronted the participants of the pickets against the caricature of the Prophet Muhammad, published in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The footage showed how dozens of men, some with posters, shouting, pushing and chanting “Allahu Akbar!” On several sides, they are pinned by law enforcement officers.

It is known that the protesters burned a photograph of French President Emmanuel Macron. Several dozen people held posters and cartoons of the French leader. Later, law enforcement officers began to disperse the protesters.

On October 16, in the city of Conflans-Saint-Honorine near Paris, 18-year-old Chechen Abdulakh Anzorov killed and beheaded history teacher Samuel Pati. The criminal posted photos and videos of the massacre on Twitter, and also appealed to the President of France, stating that he “executed the teacher who dared to humiliate the Prophet Muhammad”.

After that, Macron promised to protect the secular values of France from radical Islam. In his opinion, this religion is now experiencing a crisis all over the world. The President proposed to establish control over the funding of mosques, and also opposed restrictions for the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. For these words, the French leader was criticized by a number of Muslim countries. On October 29, there were several armed attacks on churches in France.
