French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced the loss of the norms governing security in Europe. According to him, they no longer exist, and arms control treaties are practically outdated and irrelevant, writes the Financial Times.

“While Russia demands stability and guarantees, we also demand stability and guarantees. Europe needs guarantees of security and stability. We are ready to discuss this, to discuss everything,” the Foreign Minister stressed.

Le Drian also commented on reports of the withdrawal of Russian troops from the borders with Ukraine. He pointed out that it is necessary to see how the maneuvers in Belarus, the Black Sea and near the Ukrainian borders will end.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the US and NATO responses to proposals for security guarantees contain points on which Russia is ready to work. According to him, they contain considerations that the Kremlin offered to its partners in previous years: on European security issues, on certain weapons systems, including intermediate and short-range missiles, and military transparency.
